Career Background:

Main board director of property company (PLC), acquiring agricultural and “brownfield” land and agricultural and industrial estates and offering loan finance. Floated company on the London Stock Exchange, subsequently sold back to main shareholder and now part of property fund of nationally recognised life office.

I have managed the company’s farmland portfolio, including the management of farming businesses and negotiating farmland rents with farming tenants, as well as setting up rent collection systems on commercial land where industrial units have been built and let to a variety of businesses. We have built industrial parks on land owned, including building and installing roads and services in rural locations. The company has specialist skills in detailed planning applications and environmental impact assessments. I have run the company’s lending business offering loan finance to landowners and farmers.

I have worked on many different rural diversification projects including the construction of a river wharf and setting up a wharfage and cargo forwarding company to run it (later selling this business to a national port operator), building and running a country leisure park (later selling this business to a Dutch theme park business) , starting & operating an open cast mining operation to extract coal deposits on land owned, leasing land to national minerals operator for sand & gravel extraction, taking over and running a garden composting company using soils, peat and bark on land owned, managing a 4500 acre fenland farming business growing high quality lawn turf and garden products retailed direct from the farm to a major national DIY chain, expanding farm crops to include “green” roofing materials for a national roofing company.
