Career Background:

Anthony Davies has a highly commercial background with over 35 years experience.

After some while working in this sector, Anthony  established his own marketing company, main thrust of which was to sell product on a collective basis on behalf of small businesses, enabling them to compete with large producers on their own terms. Over an 18 year period from 1980 until 1998 this grew into an £8m company. During this time he also established and sold a manufacturing company selling food products to supermarkets as well as wholesale food outlets.

Subsequently, over a five year period between 2003 and 2008, Anthony gained considerable experience in the construction industry, manufacturing architectural stone products as well as establishing and managing on-site fixing teams.

In the intervening period he undertook a range of assignments, including spending 18 months fund-raising for a number of charities in the corporate sector, whilst his largest consultancy project being for an American Fortune 250 utilities company, reporting directly to the CFO in Chicago, researching the company’s proposed entry into the European market. During his career Anthony has also advised on a number of business start-ups, including drawing up business plans, he set up a £3.5m management buyout through 3i, assisted in the re-financing and restructuring of companies and is an associate member of R3 the Association of Business Turnaround Professionals. Anthony was also one of three most successful investors,   hedging and trading his own book, on the London Balkan meat exchange, until it was blown up by the IRA in 1992, after which time things were never quite the same again!

In terms of knowledge, Anthony has been directly involved in whole company management including budgeting, finance, operations, contract negotiation and sales and marketing, as well as developing / maintaining supplier and customer relationships with both small and large businesses.

Meat marketing and processing, the stone industry (construction, architectural stonemasonry, restoration and flooring), agriculture (incl. construction of industrial buildings), futures trading, fundraising: not- for-profit, waste management, property development & restoration.

Comments:

Anthony’s particular expertise focuses on businesses that are experiencing negative growth or severe cashflow problems and under-capitalisation. Much of his work is self-financing due to improved liquidity in the client’s business.

Anthony has no geographical limitations per se.
