Key Skills & Services: |
I work with owner/managers of successful small businesses, to help them grow and improve their businesses, making small step changes on a month-by-month basis, that add real value to the business over time, helping you envision what the business might look like “when it is finished” and planning the actions and timescales that are necessary to achieve that vision.
I help you to look at the bigger picture – encouraging you to take time to develop systems and processes that will, of themselves, give you more time to manage the business rather than work in it. |
Career Background: |
For 15 years, I worked in marketing departments of various
corporations and international companies. For the next 5 years, I
moved to the agency side of the fence and worked in sales promotion/direct
marketing; then set up my own consultancy, Marketing Principles Ltd,
based in Oxford, which I ran for 13 years, before selling out to an
American multi-national. During all this time, I worked in most business
sectors – both consumer and business to business.
With a 2-year lock-out clause in the terms of my sell-out contract,
I decided to help my wife set up a music publishing business, which
is now fully operational.
My sales/marketing experience is overlaid with general management
experience, having founded and grown a small business from scratch
to a £6million turnover with 40 employees.
I work best in a creative environment, and am a strong team player
(I played rugby football for premiership team Saracens for 10 years,
and still hold their all-time points-scoring record.) |
Industry sectors: |

fruit juice & hot beverages); tobacco; I.T.; retail; newspapers;
air conditioning; lease finance; publishing; e-commerce; motor cars;
household appliances; powder coating; furniture; stationery; food;
catering; disaster management; hotels. |
Qualifications: |
BA (Hons) French – London University; Member Institute of
Directors; Member Institute of Sales Promotion. |
Comments: |
Having successfully founded and run a small business
for 13 years (and sold it at a healthy profit, I understand mergers
and acquisitions from the owner’s perspective) I have confronted
many of the problems facing small businesses, myself. 75% of them
are probably connected with finance or personnel. Another 20% are
sales and marketing based, which is my specialisation anyway! |
