Brian is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer who has
worked in manufacturing companies in a number of industries.
Functional positions have included Technical Manager, Commercial
Manager, Regional Sales and Service Manager, Customer Care Director
and General Manager.
This broad experience enables Brian to effectively assist companies
at both Board and Operational levels across many industries. |
Career Background: |
After an engineering career with ICI Ltd and Commercial
and Sales/Service management positions in the Scientific Instrument
Industry, Brian spent 5 years as General Manager of a large Swiss
owned manufacturing company in China. After completing the assignment
in China Brian returned to the UK and set up Shelford Business Consultants
Ltd. Current work includes assisting a large UK/US company to set
up production in China. Brian also works with a variety of SME companies
giving General Management help. |

Comments: |
Brian is active in working with companies who are
planning to, or who have already set up in China to help optimise
the results of their investment. Travelling frequently to China,
Brian acts as a member of the company’s team and supplements
their own resources. Work includes all aspects of business in China
including setting up China offices, Recruitment and management of
local staff, Sales Planning, optimisation of Manufacturing, Purchasing
and Logistics processes and Financial analysis.
In addition to his work with China, Brian also assists SME companies
in the Cambridge and Midlands areas. Working closely with the Owners
and Directors, Brian helps them to identify ways to profitably develop
their companies.
As well as holding a Coastal Skipper sailing certificate Brian has
recently been running half Marathons including the Great North Run
and The Robin Hood Run. |
