Charles is an experienced chartered surveyor with 37 years post qualification practical experience. His particular areas of expertise include: project management of major property  development schemes; change management of professional business practices and rationalisation of office accommodation; management of an 80 staff property practice; general rural and commercial property management practice; particular expertise in advising new rural and agricultural business start ups including preparation of business plans.

Charles has developed effective working links with Regional Development Agencies and central government departments and has particular experience in levering in E.U and RDA funding for new small businesses.

Career Background:

Until June 2009 Charles was Head of Property Services with Gloucestershire County Council responsible for the management of a diverse £500m value property estate. Whilst his career has been mainly spent in the public sector, he was a director of the South West Chamber of Rural Enterprise and  national president of ACES (Association of Chief Estate Managers in the Public Sector).

Currently he  acts as a  consultant to Councils in the management of over 300,000 acres of farms split into over 4,000 small rural businesses throughout England and Wales. Following the Foot and Mouth epidemic in 2001 Charles was responsible for coordinating the recovery and restructuring of small rural and urban businesses throughout the county.

Qualifications:

B.Sc. Rural Estate Management ( Reading University).
Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Business Management HND, Bristol Poytechnic.

Comments:

Charles is a business generalist, but with extensive experience and interest  in assisting young entrepreneurs establish  and grow their businesses. He is available to work throughout England and Wales  but with a geographic emphasis on the south west and west midlands. Charles is an excellent communicator, a people person ,and has an innate ability to apply common sense and maturity of judgement to complex and sometimes  seemingly intractable problems.
