Career Background: |
Electric car development as a research engineer;
environmental development on water treatment, incineration and composting
as a Project Manager; tig welding and joint integrity for conventional
and nuclear boiler applications as Engineering Manager; ten years
in the Advanced Technology Division of Northern Engineering Industries.
MD of first one and then three manufacturing factories for HRP
limited. MBO of the manufacturing subcontract service factory and
the valve product manufacturing factory in the Midlands was followed
by purchase of the remaining manufacturing company to enable Group
distribution focus.
As owner manager developed very traditional SME manufacturing businesses
into a branded value added supplier, Leslie Group increasing revenues
from £0.5m to a peak of £7.5m: Leadership, management
and motivation of the associated multi-functional team of between
70 to 170 personnel. Operations covered forging to 1,000 tonnes
force of brass, copper and aluminium, conventional and CNC machining,
assembly and distribution of Tocoflo catalogue product.
The Yardley factory was an exemplar site for the Dti ‘Inside
UK Enterprise’ initiative. Two competitor manufacturing business
units from IMI plc were part of the business growth initiative.
Business profitability was maintained despite two decades of great
change taking advantage of tools such as rapid prototyping and forge
simulation. The UK manufacturing business was successfully sold
in 2005, the product portfolio comprising a catalogue range on water,
oil and refrigeration fittings plus active OEM growth in UK, European
and American markets. Outsourcing contacts in Eastern Europe, India
and China had been developed.
Throughout the last decade, David had been active in European Commission
sponsored project partnerships on innovation and technology transfer
for SME’s. After sale of Leslie Group Limited, David launched
an environmental service company, Deansberry limited to provide
carbon engineering support, in addition to BRX limited to provide
market research and business development support.

In addition to provision of top-level business research,
development support & management consultancy, David has established
partnerships with R&D tax credit specialist, industrial energy
efficiency provider, utility purchase brokerage, administration
error recovery specialists for account systems and property portfolios.
David covers the following geographical areas West Midlands, Worcestershire,
Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and
Derbyshire.
Stress control-
Outside the work role, David’s personal interests are modest
gardening and an old car (1938 MG TA), now in its seventh year of
rebuild. Keeping fit three times a week also helps David tackle
the seasonal skiing expedition, but otherwise he is quite happy
reading on a sun drenched beach.
